Pirates in the woods – year 2

Posted by on September 10, 2013

What a fantastic afternoon with year 2.  Well done year 2 for using your imagination and collaboration muscles today.

Capn Gilly was looking for a band of pirates this afternoon, would anyone get to walk the plank?Page_1 Capn Gilly spied something across the way and we tried to guess what it might be, was it a wolf? A frog? A person? A bomb? We crept over to have a look. It was a bottle with something inside – some of us thought it was a pirate map. We carefully looked, it was an old, burnt letter from Pirate Pete! He told us there was treasure around somewhere and asked if year 2 were ready for an adventure. “OOOH AAAAR!” they shouted.

So we were going to be pirates –

We even had a visit from the Barnsley Chronicle so some of our pirate antics may be in the paper!

Hannah is so enthusiastic! It’s really cute they had been on the same day so could talk about it together. 🙂 Thank you for telling us .

What an absolutely fabulous way of bringing the topic of Pirates into the outdoor play – I love the way you used your creative skills to adapt the crates into being your pirate boat – I hope you were all good and didnt get to wlk the plank – did you see any sharks out in the grassy sea? I look forward to seeing you other adventures

I nearly made them all walk the plank for forgetting to bring a pirate ship! Then I realised I didn’t have a plank! When I saw the amazing boats they built I decided I’d let them off. It was such good fun.
