Year 5 Spartans in the woods

Posted by on November 26, 2013

Year five told me about some of the things they have been learning about in their topic work this term. They have been thinking about the Greeks.

They told me about the Spartans and I found out they liked fighting! When Spartans were children they didn’t go to a school like ours they went to school to learn how to be warriors. We became Spartans, and used things we had collected to make hand held weapons. This involved some brilliant capitalizing, collaboration, perseverance, absorption  and imagination.

After this the children split into 2 teams – The Spartans and their enemies the Persians. The teams worked together to make weapons that would propel a missile across to the other team. Some people got really competitive – didn’t they Mr Marsh!

Spartans versus Persians who will win – there’s only one way to find out – BATTLE!

The pictures taken at the fire circle were taken by the children, thank you for helping out and capturing the things that were important or interesting for you.
