This morning I found a letter addressed to Year 1. This is what it said
Dear Year 1
I am looking for a new home.
I would like my home to be big enough for myself and also have space for when some of my family come to visit me.
I also like to sit outside and watch what is happening around me, so I would like a house that has some sort of garden.
I don’t like it when it gets too hot so I think my perfect house would have some shade from the sunshine.
I would love for my house to be near interesting things so that I can keep myself busy.
Do you think you could build some homes for me to choose from?
I had no idea who Sunny was so I didn’t know what it was about. Year 1 told me all about Sunny – he is a meerkat. It sounds like he is a bit of a fussy meerkat too!
Year 1 were up for the challenge and set about building houses, they used the signs that were in the woods to help them decide where to build their house. Some of the signs were warning signs, can you remember what they were? They didn’t build houses near these things.
When the houses were built the children made sketches and wrote notes about their houses, thinking about all of the things that made their houses wonderful. I can’t wait to see some of their work back in class.
